    Embracing the Horizon

Jane Kendra is a Traverse City artist who uses the striking colors of the Great Lakes as the inspiration for her waterscape paintings. She captures the nuances of the shifting colors in the sky and water in her acrylic paintings on shou sugi ban wood planks. She “reads” the grain on the wood which become the lines of her paintings and joins multiple planks to compose a waterscape scene. Each wood plank is carefully selected for its unique features that echo what Jane sees in the sky and water. Her palette of colors range from the early morning muted tones of a sunrise to the jewel tones of high noon and finally to the spicy colors of a sunset.

Pop-up exhibits will rotate every three to four weeks —be sure to stop by often to experience something new.
