    Cancellation & Class Policies

Cancellation Policy for Petoskey Classes (In-Person)

    Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

    Class Cancellations (Weather)
When Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC-Petoskey classes are canceled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes will be handled on a per-class basis. School of Ballet students are asked to make up the missed class in an alternate session approved by their instructor.

    Student Absence
We are unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed due to student absence.

    Minimum Enrollment
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid. (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)

Visual Art Studio Use Agreement (CTAC-Petoskey)

This agreement outlines the use policies for Crooked Tree Arts Center-Petoskey’s visual art studio spaces. Crooked Tree Arts Center’s studios are a community resource owned and managed by Crooked Tree Arts Center (CTAC). The studios are designed to be shared by many students of varying ages and skill levels. All users of the studio must be respectful of studio resources and other students. The following guidelines will help ensure safe and productive use of the studio.

    Who Can Use the Studio
Crooked Tree Arts Center instructors, currently enrolled CTAC students, and CTAC staff may use the studio. Students must be actively enrolled in a class to have access to the studio. Instructors must be contracted by Crooked Tree Arts Center.

    Clean Up
Art can be messy and some art materials may be hazardous if not handled appropriately. All users of the studio must clean their materials and wipe down all surfaces they have worked on. All tools must be cleaned and put away after use. Use trash bins and recycle bins appropriately. Clean-up is everyone’s responsibility -- not just the instructor’s.

    Work Storage
Space is limited and all studio space is shared. Be mindful of others and do not exceed your allotted storage space. Take your finished work home promptly.

    Tools
The tools in the studio are available for all users. All tools must be treated with respect and cleaned and returned to their storage location when you are finished working. If you see any tools that appear to be broken or missing, inform your instructor. Storage is limited and we ask individuals to not leave their own personal tools in the studio.

    Studio Etiquette
Respectful interactions with all others using the space (students, artists, instructors, staff) are both expected and required of ALL studio participants. As this is a community space, it is vital that every person using the space should feel safe and comfortable to create their work. If at any time you have concerns that a person or situation is making use of the studio unsafe, unproductive, or uncomfortable, please connect with your instructor or someone at the front desk.

    Incident Reports
In the event of an incident involving bodily injury, property damage, or dispute, the instructor should complete an Incident Report. Incident Reports will be shared with CTAC administration and the individual or parent/legal guardian of the individual involved with the incident. Incidents involving unsafe use of the studio, damage to CTAC property, or intentional damage to other students’ artwork may result in temporary or permanent dismissal from the studio and/or CTAC classes.

Youth Under 18 Years of Age
Material use and studio maintenance expectations will be age-appropriate. Students are expected to be respectful of fellow students and instructors, and should use language appropriate for a classroom environment. CTAC knows accidents happen; incident reports will be completed and shared with parents or guardians if injury happens to the body (regardless of cause), and if behavior is disrespectful or unsafe. Repeated incidents may result in temporary or permanent dismissal from the studio and/or CTAC classes.
