    DESCRIPTION

Design goes beyond composition and the bones of a painting; it involves every aspect of how the eye lingers and wanders around the image. How do we create paintings that are dynamic, engaging, and alive?

In this workshop, we will look to the works of master artists, as well as our own, to grow in our understanding of form, design, and expression. During our two days together, we will create two paintings. One will be a copy of a master painting, the other will be a painting from a photo that they have personally taken. On the second day, students will apply what they have learned from painting the master copy as they create their own absolutely fresh and unique painting.

Supplies are not provided. Artists are encouraged to work in their preferred medium. The design, composition, and painting concepts covered in this workshop apply to all painting mediums, though techniques vary depending on materials used.
