    DESCRIPTION

Emotion, Freedom and Form | The Pyramid to Successful Abstract Expressionist Painting

Looking to explore the world of abstraction expressionist painting?

This workshop provides a supportive, creative space for painters to explore the intuitive, emotional, and freeing processes of painting in an abstract expressionist style. Paintings created during this workshop will be personal, expressive, and driven by individual passion and energy.

Ruth will guide artists to connect with their own personal voice as they explore design and composition through expressive and intuitive use of color and markmaking. Once the energy is flowing, Ruth will teach the complex world of form. Students will explore focal point, eye path, pattern and repetition, and the use of color to communicate your vision.

Ruth will share examples of great abstract expressionists including Joan Mitchell, Richard Diebenkorn, both Elaine and Willem DeKooning, and more!

You will need a fresh canvas daily and a variety of acrylic paints. I suggest go as big as you are comfortable with. Nothing less than 24”.
