Michigan Meditations

Drawing is a wonderful form of expression. Pastels combine drawing with a pure pigment method of painting without a brush. While Linda uses watercolor on paper, acrylic on canvas, graphite, and pen and ink on paper, she loves Pastels.

Painting is just an immersion in fun. Painting en plein air is even better; to experience the temperature, breezes, sounds, sights and emotions of the scene in real time on location.

Linda’s training is a degree in Interior design from MSU, and it has been her profession for over 46 years. She has studied with nationally known professional pastel artists over the last 8 to 10 years to develop her style and techniques.

Linda is also a member of Great Lakes Pastel Society, Michigan Watercolor Society, Ann Arbor Area Pastelists, and The Ann Arbor Women Artists. She is a professional member of ASID (the American Society of Interior Designers).

My husband and I raised our three kids in Asia, and I spent the bulk of our 22 years there as a high school art teacher at an International School. The sights and sounds of Asia were great resources for art. Since returning to the States and Northern Michigan, I am falling in love with a new landscape. My favorite medium of soft pastel lends itself to the Great Lakes shoreline and interior rolling hills. I continue to do artwork for projects in Asia, along with exploring new work and teaching. Passing on my love of pastels to students brings me great joy.
