Description

Join us for a fun and inspiring landscape painting workshop with artist Lyudmila Tomova Clark, known as Lucy. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter, this class will help you bring your landscapes to life with bold colors and expressive brushwork.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore techniques to make your landscapes vibrant and full of energy. Whether you’re working in watercolor, acrylic, or oil, you’ll learn how to use color to set the mood, capture light, and add depth to your work. Lucy will guide you step by step, starting with a live demonstration to show you how to create dynamic compositions that stand out.

You’ll have plenty of time to practice, experiment, and work on your own projects while receiving one-on-one feedback from Lucy. By the end of the workshop, you’ll feel more confident in your ability to create colorful, engaging landscapes and have the tools to keep exploring your creativity.

Come ready to have fun, learn new skills, and bring your landscapes to life!

Lyudmila will bring a wide variety of photo references to choose from or you can use your own.

Lyudmila Tomova Clark is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning artist known for her distinctive impressionist style. Working in oil and watercolor, she specializes in en plein air landscapes, figures, and portraits, earning recognition in national and international exhibitions. She participates in an average of 12 prestigious plein air events annually across the U.S. and was recently featured in an eight-page article in PleinAir Magazine (June/July issue), as well as in International Artist, Watercolor Artist, The Art of Watercolour, Pratique des Arts Magazine, and Splash books.

Her work has garnered awards from the PleinAir Salon, ArtFields, Art Renewal Center, NOAPS, OPA, and the American Impressionist Society, and she holds signature memberships in multiple watercolor societies. Lyudmila earned a BFA in Illustration with a gold medal from FIT in NYC and also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Special School of Fine Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Originally from Sofia, she immigrated to the U.S. in 1990, building a distinguished career as a full-time painter, illustrator, and designer.

With 40 awards in 2023–2024, including 17 first-place wins, her dynamic, painterly approach seamlessly blends abstract and traditional elements, capturing light, energy, and emotion.

Cancellation & Class Policies

Cancellation Policy for Petoskey Classes (In-Person)

Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

Class Cancellations (Weather)
When Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC-Petoskey classes are canceled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes will be handled on a per-class basis. School of Ballet students are asked to make up the missed class in an alternate session approved by their instructor.

Student Absence
We are unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed due to student absence.

Minimum Enrollment
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid. (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)
