Description

This facilitated studio meet-up takes place Tuesday afternoons. This class is intended for students who are familiar with the CTAC pottery studio and are looking for studio time with some guidance as needed. This class is facilitated by Kim Meyer.

Bringing whimsical laugh-out-loud Mugglies as well as striking nature-inspired pottery to Petoskey, Kimberly Meyer finds fun in her work. She creates pieces that are functional as well as funny, comfortable to hold as well as comforting to look upon. ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a potter. Working with clay takes me to a whole different world, where my soul is quiet, and my head is clear. I enjoy the nature of clay. It is an ever-evolving medium that teaches me something new each day. The slow deliberate process of pottery gives me an opportunity to connect with the material and create with intention. Much of my work is done with a potter’s wheel. The physical exertion, fluidity of motion, and fragility of wet clay are exhilarating! Creating just the right curve. Getting an extra inch of height. I enjoy creating useful items that fit the hand. Practical pots that are both balanced and silly. Nature-inspired items that represent the beauty I see around me. I love to make things that make others smile.

Unpretentious, individual, colorful, and sometimes humorous. Those are my pots. 

Cancellation & Class Policies

COVID-19 Policy for Classes (until 03/31/22)

Crooked Tree Arts Center has implemented policies to control the spread of Covid-19 students, staff, and instructors safe. Please note the following policies regarding illness, face coverings, social distancing, room capacity, and sanitation. The following policies are in place for classes beginning before March 31, 2022:

Face Coverings (updated 2/22/22)
Face masks are required for all CTAC classes that begin before March 31, 2022, regardless of vaccination status.

Illness
Students who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or who have recently tested positive should not come to class, and should follow the CDC guidelines on quarantining and masking.

Symptoms of Covid-19 include: Fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea.

Capacity
Class size will be limited to accommodate social distancing. Classroom setups will be arranged so that each student has 6 feet of working space.

Social Distancing
Students and teachers are expected to remain at least 6 feet apart whenever possible.

Sanitation
Students and instructors should sanitize their hands upon class arrival and departure. Hand sanitizer and surface disinfectant will be available onsite.

 

Cancellation Policy for Petoskey Classes (In-Person)

Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

Class Cancellations (Weather)
When Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC-Petoskey classes are canceled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes will be handled on a per-class basis. School of Ballet students are asked to make up the missed class in an alternate session approved by their instructor.

Student Absence
We are unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed due to student absence.

Minimum Enrollment
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid. (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)
