What felt true isn't ours is a mindful and evocative installation by emerging artist Rebecca Howe.
The work explores how we manipulate material to create a story. By taking apart material that was meant to be constructed, creating something desirable out of what was meant to be disposed of, and layering disorder with the intention to ultimately create a sense of ease, this work attempts to break the story of consumption and capitalism, of binary assumptions — the "either this or that" of race, gender, and wealth.
What felt true isn't ours will be on display in CTAC-TC's Carnegie West Gallery from August 8 - September 1, 2023. Join us for the opening reception for this exhibition on Friday, August 11 from 5:30 - 7 PM.
