    ABOUT SARAH MORAN MARTIN

Sarah Moran Martin is a writer and editor for whom Northern Michigan is woven into her life. Once a Kiplinger Washington Letter editor, she then wrote for the Daily Local News outside Philadelphia, where she now lives with her husband, Tom. She also freelanced for Washingtonian Magazine and various other newspapers and magazines. Writing has always been her passion -- almost as important as her love for all things Northern Michigan.

A native of suburban Detroit, Sarah and her family traveled every summer to Petoskey, where her mother grew up. In 1973, Sarah’s parents built a cottage overlooking Walloon Lake’s pristine West Arm, a home now owned by Sarah, her brother Jeff, and their families. She spends as much time as she can Up North with her husband, three grown sons, their families, and various family dogs, who are almost always wet from chasing tennis balls into the lake. Sarah and her family delight in lake life, the region’s natural beauty, and its rich cultural heritage.
