Call for Fly Tyers to Submit Flies of Michigan Origin- in Collaboration with Trout Unlimited

Call for Submission of Flies for Gallery Exhibit
 
The Miller-Van Winkle Chapter of Trout Unlimited in conjunction with Crooked Tree Arts Center (Petoskey) is calling for fly tyers to submit flies of Michigan origin for a gallery exhibit that will run from May 22nd through the summer.  This exhibit is part of the Center’s summer program that will be centered around fresh water and will include presentations on environmental issues, arts and craft classes as well as many other programs. As an incentive there will be a prize drawing for all who contribute a pattern and another for those whose flies are selected for the actual display.  All submissions should include 3 copies of the fly, a list of all materials used and a brief history of the fly.  All flies submitted become the property of MVWTU. Those whose flies are selected will be asked to submit a bio and a photo of themselves.  The display will identify the fly, the tyer and a QR code for each fly so the public can review all additional information including a video tutorial when available.  All flies that are not used in the gallery display will be arranged in fly boxes for use in fly tying classes and a presentation that are part of the program. They will later be sold or become part of a raffle with any profits being earmarked to support youth attending the Michigan TU Trout and Conservation Camp.

How to submit a fly:
Select and tie three copies of a fly with Michigan origins. It can be a nymph, dry fly or streamer.
Write a brief history of the fly including a material list (recipe).
All submissions must be received by April 15, 2025.
Send the flies along with the history and your contact info including your email address to the following address:
