Join local fiber artist and CTAC instructor for a conversation on self promotion and marketing. Lori admits she thought she needed to wait for someone to find her. She soon realized that waiting for someone else to "discover" her was not the answer. Lori will also talk about how she manages her inner critic and self doubt.

Lori Sikkema is a self taught artist who began drawing and creating at an early age. She has been an avid quilter (aka fabric hoarder) since 2004, but it wasn't until she combined her love of fabric and the freedom and creativity of art quilting, that she discovered her true passion for fabric collage.

Lori creates realistic fabric collage portraits using fabric and thread. Her attention to detail and value bring her pictorial art quilts and portraits to life, and her fabric choices add an element of surprise and whimsy.

Her fabric collage work has been juried into regional art exhibits and national quilt shows. Lori was featured in the Fall 2022 issue of What Women Create Magazine, January/February 2020 issue of Grand Traverse Woman Magazine and in the October/November 2019 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine.
