    You Can’t Ruin a Watercolor!

The idea of loose watercolor painting can be daunting! Watercolor paints have a mind of their own and often artists feel they have to ‘control’ the medium. Some painters have a desire to paint with a looser style but are afraid they will ruin their paintings. Can you control the medium and paint with a loose style?

The key to loose watercolor painting is understanding how to work with the medium rather than controlling it. Let Steve Griggs teach you to paint with his loose style that results in paintings that are full of movement, energy, and emotion. No need to be timid! As you’ll hear Steve say multiple times in the workshop…You Can’t Ruin a Watercolor!

Workshop sessions start with a demonstration painting, followed by a short instruction session, and then time for participants to work on their own paintings with individual attention and feedback. At the end of the painting session the group will gather for positive  and encouraging critique, typically filled with laughter and fun. After a lunch break, the afternoon sessions follow the same format.

This style of painting will move participants out of their comfort zone. There is sure to be a lot of laughter and camaraderie as participants encourage one another’s efforts and discover the beauty that emerges as they develop their own loose painting voice.
