    Description

Pattern design is a central element in my work and I love the process of creating patterns by hand; there are so many possibilities discovered along the way. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to draw a repeat pattern and transfer it to another surface so it can be used in a finished work of art. The pattern can be used for drawing, painting, embroidery, and other mediums. Over the course of the day you’ll create a complex pattern from a simple drawing, learn how to repeat that drawing to make several pattern variations, and transfer one of them to a sheet of watercolor paper. Supplies will be provided.

Shan will be featured in a three-person show, Wonderlands, at Higher Art Gallery opening April 8.
