4 sessions - Tuesdays, Apr 29 - May 20, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Adults - Ages 16+

Here is where the rubber meets the road. Students will now be prepared to make more critical decisions on how they approach a painting.  They can mix some of the lessons learned in the previous Discovery classes or they can pick one area where they might have struggled and have a “second chance” at it. This way they can work with the technique and improve upon it. The Wrap it Up allows for freedom to explore more deeply, a different perspective of their abilities, and with new tools in their toolbox. This is where anything goes! Students have the option of working on any scene they did in a prior discovery class using any or all of what they have learned this past season to see how it may develop differently.

  • This class is ideal for those who have taken one of Sherry's previous "Painting Discovery Series" classes. If you have not, but are still interested in taking this class, please contact us to determine if this would be a good fit for you.

Sherry McNamara began oil painting at a young age in a private studio in Detroit. Her first experience in the studio raised a passion for oil painting that has continued throughout her life.

Sherry was selected for the juried 2019 Northwest Michigan Regional Juried Exhibition The Dennos Museum Center. She was also selected for the juried show The Art of the Sleeping Bear Dunes at the Dennos Museum in 2013 and the book, The Art of the Sleeping Bear Dunes: Transforming Nature into Art.

Awards:

  • 2015 Honorable Mention in the Baypointe show for Battling Worry
  • 2016 Honorable Mention in the Baypoint Show for A New Dawn
  • 2016 Second Place in Glen Arbor Art Center for Resilience

Sherry has been occupied with the natural world from the time she was young growing up on a ravine overlooking a river watching the wildlife and waterfowl on a daily basis. She has a fondness for painting water scenes, but also artistically explores barns, fields, clouds, trees, and people.  Sherry keenly observes how light affects all things, how it illuminates the sunny side of a barn, how it brightens thinning clouds, how it is broken into shadow patterns by tree branches on grass.  Nature is always, always intriguing.   

Sherry is a member of Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, Plein Air Painters of Northwest Michigan, Magic Thursday Artists, and Studio One 6.

Cancellation & Class Policies

Cancellation Policy for Traverse City Classes (In-Person)

Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

Class Cancellations (Weather)
In the event of inclement weather, CTAC-TC will announce the cancellation on its website and phone system (231-941-9488). We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Please note that CTAC-TC does not follow Traverse City Area Public School closings.

Student Absence
We are unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed due to student absence.

Minimum Enrollment
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid. (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)
