Cancellation & Class Policies

We are excited to be offering a hybrid School of Ballet Spring Session. This means that our students will have the option of returning to in-person instruction on a part-time basis. Those students who wish to solely continue Zoom instruction will be allowed to do so. Upper level students who wish to participate in our reduced-size in-person classes will be scheduled for both part-time in-person and part-time Zoom instruction to give as many dancers as possible the opportunity to have the in-studio option.

We know that in addition to dance, our students are returning to school, sports, and other activities, and that each of these will have slightly different guidelines. Given the wide range of ages we are working with, the limited hours in a week, and our desire to get as many of our dancers back into the studio as possible while still following public health guidelines, we thank you in advance for your patience as we work out inevitable kinks in the system.

Signage: Signs are located at the main entrances to the building and by each individual studio entrance. Our Covid Plan is posted in all studios. Hand washing instructions and reminders will be posted in all washrooms. Social distancing signage is posted through studios reminding dancers to maintain a 6 foot minimum physical distance.

Masks: Everyone must wear a mask or facial covering at all times. That means teachers, students and parents. The only exception is babies under 4 years old. Dancers should use cloth masks. You can also add a filter. Make sure masks cover the entire lower two-thirds of your face, from the bridge of your nose to below your chin.

Limited In-person Class Sizes:

  • 4 dancers for Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, Pre-Professional, Fusion II, Fusion III and Adults
  • 5 dancers for Beginning, Beginning/Intermediate and Fusion I

Entering/exiting the space:

- Beginning, Beginning/Intermediate Ballet, Fusion I, II, III in-person classes will be held in the CTAC dance studio. Enter and exit through the alleyway door.

- Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, Pre-Pro, Adult in-person classes will be held on the CTAC stage. Enter and exit through the Division St. front entrance.

All in-person classes will be simultaneously live on zoom and projected for instructors teaching in-person.

Arrival/Departure/Waiting: Dancers should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before class begins. Upon arrival find an empty social distancing spot along the outside wall of the studio or theatre. The teacher will open the studio door and allow dancers to enter one at a time. We have scheduled 15 minutes in between classes for students to exit/enter in a distanced manner as well as to sanitize the spaces in between classes.

Temperature Checks: We will check the temperature of everyone coming into class with a non-contact thermometer. Anyone with a temperature over 100.5 degrees Fahrenheit must leave immediately.

Symptoms: Please alert your instructor if at any time in class you feel any of the following: fever, cough, chills, shortness of breath, sore throat and painful swallowing, stuffy or runny nose, loss of sense of smell, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, loss of appetite.

Hand sanitizer: Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrances for all students to use upon entering the building. Hand sanitizer will be provided to each student as they leave the studio. Everyone coming into and going out of the studio should use hand sanitizer.

Floor/Barre Markings: Please remain within your designated barre and center areas, which will be marked at 6’ intervals. This means no hugging, hand-shaking, fist-bumping, or high-fiving each other. Washrooms: Only one dancer will be allowed to use the washroom at a time. There will be no changing or fixing hair in the washroom. Keep masks on while in the washroom.

Disinfection: We will be cleaning the floors daily with steam mops, and will sanitize ballet barres, doorknobs and all surfaces dancers and teachers may touch before and after all classes.

Air Filtration: We will have HEPA air purifiers in both studio spaces. No Changing: Dancers must arrive prepared/dressed for dance class. There will be no changing upon arrival or between classes.

Water Bottles: Dancers may bring their own labeled water bottles to leave in the hallway. There will be no water bottle refilling available at the studio.

Food: No food is allowed in the studio. Dancers must eat outside or in their vehicle.

Storage: Dancers must limit their belongings and only bring what is required for class to the studio. There will be no storage available for belongings.

Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

Class Cancellations (Weather)
When Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC-Petoskey classes are cancelled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes will be handled on a per-class basis. School of Ballet students are asked to make up the missed class in an alternate session approved by their instructor.

Student Absence
We are unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed due to student absence.

We will offer a prorated credit (never expires) or refund for two weeks of your missed class for all cancellations due to suspected COVID-19 infection and/or exposure. If you choose to drop the remainder of your class, you will receive a prorated refund of the tuition of the remaining sessions.
