CTAC’s 22nd Annual Young Writers Exposition: Call for Young Writers!

[PETOSKEY, MI] - Crooked Tree Arts Center (CTAC) is thrilled to announce the return of the Young Writers Exposition as part of the annual Youth Arts Festival.

In partnership with McLean & Eakin Booksellers, Little Traverse Literary Guild, Petoskey News-Review, and the Bob Schulze Fund for Creative Writing at the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, CTAC - Petoskey is excited to extend an invitation to young writers to submit their written works for consideration. Students from elementary, middle, and high schools within the Char-Em ISD's service area (or home-schooled students residing in Charlevoix or Emmet counties) are eligible to participate. They are encouraged to submit poetry or prose for a chance to win awards and prizes.

Winning writers across all age groups will receive a medal, journal, and McLean & Eakin Booksellers gift card, along with having their work published digitally in the Petoskey News-Review. Middle and high school winners will also receive monetary prizes: 1st place - $100 (Bob Schulze Award); 2nd place - $75; and 3rd place - $50. Additionally, all first-place writers will have their work published in the Petoskey News-Review. The Little Traverse Literary Guild will award two $500 "Best in Show" prizes—the Hanna-Renkes/Jan Smith Literary Award—to high school students for poetry and prose.

All submissions for the Young Writers Exposition must be made online by a student, parent, or teacher by Friday, March 22 at 5:00 pm. The submission page with additional eligibility information can be found at crookedtree.org/ywe2024.

Winners will be invited to attend the Youth Arts Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24, to receive their awards. The Youth Arts Awards Ceremony is the culmination of the Youth Arts Festival, celebrating young creatives in our region through CTAC - Petoskey's Youth Art Show, College Scholarships, Young Writers Exposition, and more!
