Rebecca is an award-winning illustrator, writer, animator and educator.
Her artwork typically features rich color, hand-made textures and both digital and hand-painted brushwork and lines. She is inspired by childhood delusions, the world her children live in when they’re left alone, critters and creatures, history, activism, anthropology, ecology and the adventures and moving moments found in ordinary life.
Rebecca received her BA in Journalism from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, and worked as a magazine editor for almost a decade. During that time she began to sneak into the art department, learning all she could and taking that passion home where she spent countless hours teaching herself design. This eventually led her to work full-time in graphic design. She has worked for a variety of companies designing for children’s games and curriculum, branding small and new businesses and marketing and advertising for nonprofit and for-profit companies.
Rebecca’s love for literature and art, especially children’s literature, led her full-circle to writing and illustrating books for children, with a particular value on creating books with authentic, diverse representation. She now lives in Michigan with her family.
