In August 2020, Crooked Tree Arts Center will host our third annual Paint Grand Traverse, a week long plein air painting festival featuring top artists from across the country. The event will take place August 8-15, 2020.
The week will include a variety of events for spectators, artists, art buyers, kids, and families.
The Grand Traverse region is located in northwest lower Michigan, and is known the world over for its gorgeous scenery, hundreds of miles of Lake Michigan coast, and historic small towns and villages. The largest of these, Traverse City, is nestled on the southern shore of West Grand Traverse Bay, and is home to Crooked Tree Arts Center - Traverse City.
WHAT IS PLEIN AIR PAINTING?
From the French en plein air, or "in open air", plein air artists work outside, in natural lighting conditions, capturing the ephemeral atmospheric and lighting conditions.
I AM AN ARTIST, HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
Our featured artists are selected via invitation and a competitive application process. The application deadline has passed, and featured artists will be announce in mid-January 2020. Registration for our Quick Draw event is open to all, and will be available in March.
