    Description

Join us on Thursday, October 10, at 5:30 PM as we host a special reading for our show, the EKPHRASTIC, which showcases written word inspired by visual artwork. In addition to viewing the visual and written works, attendees will hear authors read their work aloud in the Carnegie Rotunda exhibition space. Current writers scheduled to read: Aria Davis, Jennifer Patino, Kris Kunz, Susan Odgers, Patricia Trentacoste, Mary Caroline Whims, Robb Astor, Art Curtis, Edd Tury. This event is FREE and open to all!

Please consider attending this unique event where writers read aloud the poems or stories they wrote about specific artworks that are currently on exhibit at Crooked Tree Traverse City.

‘Ekphrastic’ is the adjective of the word ‘ekphrasis’ which means: ‘a literary description of or commentary on a visual work of art’ according to Merriam-Webster.

Initially Crooked Tree paired 8 writers to write about 8 artists' artwork for the current exhibit ‘the Ekphrastic’ and now any writer is welcome to visit Crooked Tree TC and write about any artwork from the 3 current exhibits and then participate in the read.

The read allows writers to share and read aloud what they wrote about the artwork they chose in front of their fellow writers and hopefully a large public audience.

Anyone is welcome to attend the reads and we sure hope to see you there to help support welcoming more literary arts to Crooked Tree and the community.
