    CTAC Paint Out & Wet Paint Sale


    Paint Out: Friday, September 10 - Saturday, September 18

    Wet Paint Sale: Saturday, September 18, 1 - 5 PM, Lavender Hill Farm

    Crooked Tree Arts Center will host a Paint Out Friday, September 10, to Saturday, September 18, culminating with a Wet Paint Sale on Saturday, September 18 at Lavender Hill Farm in Boyne City. 

    CTAC’s Paint Out is open to artists of all skill levels, age 18 and up, working in all media. Artists can register and get their canvases and various substrates stamped at CTAC-Petoskey during regular business hours, Friday, September 10 through Friday, September 17. Artists are invited to submit up to three works for the “wet paint sale” and jury.

    Completed works depicting outdoor scenes in the Little Traverse Bay Area must be turned in at Lavender Hill Farm between 10 AM and noon on Saturday, September 18.

    Join us for the Wet Paint Sale on Saturday, September 18, 1 PM – 5 PM at Lavender Hill Farm to view and shop works created during the Paint Out. The sale is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, picnics, and BYO beer & wine.

    How do I stamp my canvases: Bring your blank canvases or other painting substrates to the front desk at CTAC-Petoskey during business hours Friday, September 10, through Friday, September 17.

    Where can I bring completed artwork? All artwork must be delivered to Lavender Hill Farm (to CTAC staff) on Saturday, September 18, 10 AM – 12 Noon, unless other arrangements are made.

    How many pieces may I stamp and submit? You may have up to 5 pieces stamped, but may only submit 3 pieces for the jury and wet paint sale.

    Where can I paint? Artwork must depict an outdoor scene in the Little Traverse Bay area. While a special award category for artwork depicting a scene from Lavender Hill Farm will be awarded, artwork from Lavender Hill Farm is not required.

    When is the wet paint sale? The wet paint sale is at Lavender Hill Farm on Saturday, September 18, 1 PM – 5 PM.

    How do I price my artwork? Artwork is priced at the discretion of the artist. All artwork sold is subject to a 60% / 40% commission split, with the artist receiving 60% of the sale price.

    What happens at the end of the Wet Paint Sale? Purchased artwork will be taken home by the purchaser upon sale and artists receive a 60% commission on all sales. Payments will be mailed by the tenth day of the month following the sale of the item. A description of the items sold will be included with the check. Unsold work must be picked up by the artist at the conclusion of the sale, unless other arrangements are made.

    What are the prizes? An independent juror will award the following cash prizes: First Place, $250; Second Place, $150; and Best Lavender Hill Farm Artwork $100 and a gift basket of Lavender Hill Farm products.
