Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians Fish Hatchery Enhancement Facility Research and Restoration Efforts

Kris Dey graduated from Lake Superior State University with a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife management; where his undergraduate thesis was titled “Population Dynamics of Lake Sturgeon in the St. Marys River”. Kris has been the Hatchery Manager for the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians’ Fisheries Enhancement Facility since 2016. The facility focuses on native fish species Research, Restoration, Preservation, and Education across the 1836 Ceded Territory. Kris oversees the facility’s operation and the many of the research/management projects. The research and restoration projects have covered a wide array of species, such as Walleye, Lake Whitefish, Lake Sturgeon, Cisco, Kiyi and Arctic Grayling. Kris finds working on projects that focus on finding creative solutions to tough management problems exciting and fun.
