Inspired by the sounds of 60’s era Motown, Stax and Atlantic Records, the unmistakable geniuses of Ray Charles and James Brown, and the effervescent charm of the Blues Brothers, Owen James and the Feels bring a soulful twist to Downtown Sounds. The group represents the merger of multiple Owen James-led bands over many years. First, the Pop, Rock & Favorites guitar/vocal duo, Story & James, with his long time collaborator and life partner, Maya Story. Second, the Owen James Quartet (& sometimes Quintet/Sextet), a straight ahead Jazz unit featuring small combos of horns with rhythm section. Finally, the Owen James Trio + 1, a jazz-tinged, funk & soul leaning quartet with guitar, keyboards, bass & drums. And now, it’s Owen James and the Feels!
