"Nikaaniganaa"—we are all related. Netawn will explore how Anishinaabemowin (local indigenous language) encompasses this concept and the connection to the spirit of creation and it's correlation to animacy and inanimacy.

Hello, greetings! My name is Netawn Alice Kiogima and I am a proud member of the LTBB Odawa Tribe. I strive to live by our traditional lifeways and revitalize our beautiful language, the original sound of this land. I have 2 beautiful children and 3 amazing grandchildren.

I graduated from Central Michigan University with a BS in Teacher Education and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction. I have worked for my tribe as a language instructor since 2013 and became the director of the Gijigowi Anishinaabemowin Language Department in 2022. I have had the honor to work for my tribe and provide Anishinaabe cultural awareness for our shared community, Biidaasige (Petoskey). Miigwech (Thank You)
