    Description

Join Dr. Amanda Sewell, Music Director of Interlochen Public Radio, for a conversation about Music and Visual Art in Nazi Germany. The conversation will be moderated by CTAC's Liz Erlewine and Kristi Wodek.

The Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Concert, the music of Beethoven, and ancient Greek sculptures - all of these were celebrated in Nazi Germany. In contrast, art or artists who were deemed Jewish, "decadent," "modern," or "progressive" were banned at best and executed at worst. We will examine several examples of art and music that highlight Nazi values and the troubling legacy of these artifacts in the 21st century.
