    Description

    1 session: Saturday, Mar. 15th, 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    Ages 15+

Curious about fused glass? Interested in experimenting? Work with different types of glass, shapes, colors and firing schedules to develop a better understanding of techniques and how to apply them to projects. There are no expectations about making a finished product (unless that is your goal!). This class is about process, creativity, and gaining a better understanding about the properties of glass. This is the beginning of an ongoing exploratory series, with additional classes planned throughout 2025.

This class, Explorations #1, will focus on creating with scrap glass. A variety of glass will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own COE 90 glass. If you have a kiln, you may fire you work at home. Otherwise, the instructor will fire the pieces in her kiln and return finished projects to Crooked Tree for students to pick up.

Other examples of topics to be covered during 2025 include: Kilncarving, inclusions, reactionary glass, use of stringers and frit.

    • Ages 15+. No experience necessary - open to beginners through experienced students.
    • Required $20 Materials Fee: Please be prepared to pay the instructor $20 for materials at the beginning of class. Cash, check, and Venmo are accepted. (Waived if students bring their own glass & fire using their own kiln.)
    • Projects will be returned to Crooked Tree for students to pick up - please allow 1-2 weeks for the firing process.
    • If you have questions about the class, contact the instructor, Susan, at: biglake.glassart@gmail.com
