Botanical artist Maia Hausler will teach you the basics of painting wild plants using watercolor; everything from observational study in the field, to the art of adding (or leaving out) details such as textures and veins. The goal is to have a finished work that is easily identifiable as the specific species you are illustrating, but still retain your individual artistic style. We will spend one day in the field (location TBA, but will be close to CTAC) with sketchbook and paint to observe and make reference-drawings. Two days will be spent in the classroom learning techniques and will be turning your sketches into finalized paintings.

Skill Level: Intermediate, some experience/comfortable drawing is a must, no watercolor experience necessary.

Supply List can be found at the tab at the top of the page.

Please note that CTAC-TC does not follow Traverse City Area Public School closings.

Student Absence

Minimum Enrollment
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session.
