In this 2-day workshop students will construct their own unique handmade artists’ book with materials they have created and manipulated. Day one will be spent doing Japanese stitch resist dyeing and heat-shaping of fabric, as well as sturdy paper dyeing. These explorations will provide working substrates for an exposed sewn or stepped accordion book incorporating dyed samples and stitched elements. Each of the three instructors will share their specialized knowledge of bookbinding and fiber arts. Students will have ample personal attention to discuss concepts, to trouble-shoot content integration, and to finesse techniques.
