Description

Suitable for all levels, this six-week class will focus on part of the landscape that is usually forgotten and misunderstood. Landscape paintings can create drama and contemplation with expressive skies and cloud formations. This class will provide a new vision for a more expressive depiction of moody skies and stylish clouds instead of the land in a landscape and will provide new pallets of seasonal colors as they reflect in skies.

This class will emphasize the technical command of media, improve observation skills, and continue to develop individual expression. Students will concentrate on learning to see the sky and clouds in landscapes.

Students in this class will:

  • Study the principles of aerial perspective in landscape.
  • Understand the cloud formation and its colors and scale changes.
  • Implement color change to show depth and distance in sky and landscape.
  • Unify your work of art by color repetition.
  • Use expressive brush strokes.
  • Employ design simplification for more drama and contemplation.
  • Study skies in different seasons.
