Description

The goal for this first annual summer art experience is to make a difference in young artists' lives by introducing them to the fine arts fundamental principles of visual art.  This will be fostered through developing core skills in various media.  In addition, our hope is to enlighten students on a variety of periods throughout art history by depicting draftsman, painters, sculptors and designers  who significantly influence the way we look at art.

The curriculum was created to support individuality in student’s artistic expression.  Students will explore and gain knowledge in various media, techniques and processes and at the same time, enhance their visual communication skills.

Here's what we have planned for our week-long, fun-filled, August camp:

Monday

Anatomy of Trees Study of organic forms and textural drawings inspired by American Artist, Claudia Nice.

Tuesday

Monochromatic Painting Inspired by Spanish master, Pablo Picasso, and his blue and pink periods, students will study this approach to floral depiction of mixing shades and tints.

Wednesday

Negative Painting Students will study wet on wet watercolor painting approach inspired by English artist, Joanne Boone.

Thursday

Collage Mosaic Students will create a landscape paper collage inspired by American artists, Romare Bearden and Rebecca Maloney

Friday

Mixed Media Abstracts Inspired by Dutch master, Piet Mondrian, students will take a progressive approach to a landscape from realistic to geometric abstraction.

Note: Weather-permitting, this camp may take walking field trips. Please send your child with appropriate shoes and outwear. A healthy snack will be provided daily.

Weather-Related
When Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC-Petoskey classes are cancelled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. School of Ballet students are asked to make up the missed class in an alternate session approved by their instructor.

Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid.  (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)
