Bring your coffee, a good attitude, and have fun exploring this innovative approach to learning painting!
This virtual workshop will not only focus on the fundamentals of watercolor painting but on good design as well. Students will talk about how to simplify compositions by editing out unwanted clutter, focusing on large shapes and abbreviated values. The course will then focus on various components and aspects of painting watercolors: i.e. differences in brushes, papers, paint quality, as well as brush manipulation, washes, splattering, dropping, and dry brushing. Students will explore when, where, and how to appropriately use each tool and technique.
Soft-spoken in his critical analysis of each student's work, Spencer builds student confidence by pointing out the strengths and weaknesses in each piece and by offering suggestions for improvement.
Be prepared to complete one painting over the course of each three-hour virtual session.
