Michigan artists are invited to submit original works of art for the juried exhibition, Times 2. Times 2 is an exhibit at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City featuring art created primarily with recycled/upcycled materials. Recycled art is a powerful form of expression that showcases the potential of discarded materials. Examples of the type of artwork that is being sought may be a painting on an old fridge door, or a sculpture made entirely of garage sale knicknacks, or a photograph developed on a plastic bag, etc.
This exhibit will highlight how artists can breathe new life into discarded materials, turning them into extraordinary works of art.
ELIGIBILITY
This opportunity is open to Michigan artists 18 and over.
2D and 3D.
ALL work must arrive assembled and be stable for safety concerns. Work may be displayed on pedestals as available or on the floor as appropriate. Diptychs and triptychs are allowed but are to be submitted and priced as one piece (should not be mistaken with multiple pieces from a single series). Works are to have been created and completed within the last three (3) years.
APPLICANT CALENDAR:
The exhibition will be on display in Traverse City’s Carnegie Gallery from September 13 through October 26, 2024.
Submit entries online July 19 - August 18, 2024.
Notification will be sent on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
The artist is responsible for transporting work to and from Crooked Tree Arts Center (Traverse City), through shipping or in-person drop-off and pick-up.
Work must be delivered to Crooked Tree Arts Center (Traverse City) between August 24, 26-30, September 3-4, 2024, during posted CTAC gallery hours.
If shipping artwork, the artwork must arrive with a return shipping label.
Unsold artwork must be picked up during gallery hours between October 28-November 2, 2024, or by appointment.
Works delivered with return shipping arrangements will be returned within 2 weeks of the exhibit's end.
