As a transplant from downstate, my husband and I have looked at our retirement as an adventure. That is how I approach the art I enjoy. I not only look to the natural world to inspire with its lights, shadows, and colors, but also the expressions, body language, and possible inner emotions of self and subject. This approach to artistic discovery permits me to use not only standard media such as pastel, acrylic, mixed media, reverse glass painting, and photography, but to expand my expression through three-dimensional floral design, bonsai, and stone sculpture. One could conclude that my philosophy of art is that we are all capable of creativity through varied means if we allow ourselves the time to explore and play.
I have been honored to have my work shown at Paint Creek Center for the Arts, Jordan Valley District Library, Charlevoix Circle of Arts, Gallery 50, and recently at Northwest Michigan Regional Juried Exhibition, 2019, at Dennos Museum, Traverse City.
