Don Hatfield is an American impressionist born in Napa, California, where he currently resides. Hatfield’s style of painting blends realism with nod to classic impressionism, capturing the beauty that can take place in just a brief moment. Having studied philosophy, theology, and literature, Hatfield didn’t plan on being an artist until he met well-known portraitist, Charles Cross. Cross was impressed with Hatfield’s eye for color and encouraged him to pursue his natural talent for painting, by being his protégé. However, not all of Hatfield’s energy was focused on painting. Soon after, he decided to pursue a career in ministry, but the painting urge was too strong. As a result, Hatfield found his way back to painting and was taught under the master tutelage of Sergei Bongart. It was during his time with Bongart that Hatfield found and perfected the style we recognize today. Hatfield’s award winning paintings hang in private and corporate collections throughout the world.
