Crooked Tree Arts Center will host its special summer send-off event, “Super Summer Swirl,” presented with the help and generosity of D & W Fresh Market.
The fifth annual Swirl event takes place from 5:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, with activities, food, drink and music occurring in all areas of the arts center.
Attendees can mingle within the art center’s three summer shows, Mind Into Matter - Cynthia Rutherford, Seeing and Being Seen - Susan Offield, and Northern Michigan: Living It, Loving It! - The kitchen Painters, all while enjoying wines, Michigan craft beers, appetizers and sweet treats.
During the event, attendees will be able to watch live art demonstrations put on by members of the Crooked Tree Arts Center Kitchen Painters and experience the pottery studio with local ceramic artists.
The Summer Super Swirl includes live performances by local musicians. With a variety of musical genres being showcased, the art center transforms into an indoor and outdoor concert venue for the evening. The event covers all of the arts center’s square footage, encompassing the galleries, theater, lower-level studios, Carnegie Building, Bidwell Plaza and even the grassy space behind the Carnegie Building.
“Little Gems” paintings in a variety of media will be on display during a silent auction. Those interested in participating need only to place a bid and provide contact information — you do not need to be present to win. Other gift baskets and items will be available for silent auction as well.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the Summer Super Swirl, with food and music going until 8 p.m.
Tickets are $25 per person in advance and $30 the day of the event. Advanced purchase is encouraged, as tickets are subject to availability. This event is for those 21 years and up.
