Have you ever wanted to paint the mystical light of the forest? This two-day workshop explores Nita Engle’s watercolor techniques which do just that. The techniques we will explore are masking, wet-on-wet, the bullseye, throwing paint, floating color, spraying, and flooding. While this approach is intuitive, the second layer of the painting is more thought out and controlled. During day one, we will paint a backlit forest along a riverbank, focusing on the intuitive techniques of wet-on-wet, throwing paint, and using the spray bottle like a brush. During day two, we will paint a sunrise over a misty river, using a more controlled approach with the bullseye technique and graded washes. No experience is necessary. This is a very free and fun watercolor course, perfect for beginners. Don’t worry about drawing as tracing templates will be provided. Experienced painters will loosen up in their approach and learn Nita Engle’s techniques. All supplies are included. (Bring a smock!)
Level: Introductory through Advanced
