Whether you’re a beginner picking up a brush for the first time, or someone returning to art after a long time away from the easel, this workshop is designed to be informative, fun, and stimulating. Beginning with a discussion on the “basics” of painting (from materials to paint handling), the workshop will also address the fundamentals of composition, color, value, edges, and perspective. Instruction will focus on painting en plein air (outdoors from life), including how to develop greater skills of observation, simplification, and quickly painting “wet on wet” (alla prima), to translate what you see and experience into strong paintings. Participants will paint 2-3 alla prima paintings outdoors at different locations each day and observe a short painting demonstration by Dan.

Open to all levels.
