Better Foundations, a three-day workshop with renowned watercolorist Tony Warren, focuses on specific topics each day which enables students to learn new approaches, methods, and techniques for creating better watercolor paintings. Day One: Preparing for Success delves into selecting the proper materials for the particular project at hand. Tony will also introduce and review 24 basic watercolor techniques. Day Two: Avoiding Failure centers on determining the purpose of your painting, and then selecting the appropriate reference, size, shape, and composition. Additionally, students will work on color thumbnails, discuss “the key to success,” and perform brush exercises. Day Three: Bringing it Together combines techniques and approaches learned during the previous two days to help students create a better finished work as the workshop culminates. Tony will provide a demonstration, give guidance, and lead constructive critiques.
